A CEL because we changed our own oil. As if the car knows who unscrewed the drain plug? Are you kidding me?

A CE? No. Forgetting to reset the service indicator light however will cause it to go off at an interval that probably isn't in line with your maintenance schedule.

He doesn't have an indicator light, it's an 04.

I went to many years of performing oil change class and graduated with top honors so I don't get CEL's.

Personally I would perform oil changes and not worry about a thing.

I'll be doing this in about 1200 more miles,
Do all gas stations accept the used oil? Is there a charge?
One guy told me Pep Boys ,if so how about Auto Zone or any other parts retailer?
TIA

I take all my oil to Autozone and they take it for free. I believe there is a law that mandates any place that sells oil take the old stuff back when you are done with it.

I recycle all my used oil. I have a an old dodge stealth with 200k miles that burns oil like crazy, so when it gets low I fill it up with the used oil from my other cars, works great

I bring my used oil to Wal Mart. I sign a book with my name and the quantity of oil and I'm on my way.
