perhaps the silliest S2K question to date
I think the guy subscribes to the "half a loaf is better than none" theory. What he really needs to do, though, is to convince his wife to learn to drive stick.
I thought the abuse he got over there was kind of over the top. On the other hand, he did mention a CVT, so maybe he deserved it.

Not as silly a question as you might think.
Since I'm a member of the Shelby American Automobile Club, I naturally often find myself drawing comparisons between the S2000 and Shelby Cobras. As most of your know, there have been very few, if any, more "hard core" street cars than a Shelby Cobra.
Given that, believe it or not, in the case of the 289 Shelby Cobra of which a total of 655 were made, approximately 30 were built with the Ford C-4 automatic transmission.
The text from an advertisment placed by three southern California Cobra dealers at the time read:
AUTOMATIC COBRA?
"Carroll Shelby's swift G.T. Cobra sports/racing car is now available as the world's most practical street sports car. Comfort oriented with the accent on "Grand" the new Shelby automatic "Grand Sports" is an ideal combination for the individual who appreciates the precise roadholding characteristics of a thorobred racing car, yet has to fight his way through 15 MPH bumper to bumper traffic. Don't worry about the performance suffering -- the automatic shifts quicker than a Cobra team driver cutting a new lap record!"
If they could put an automatic transmission in the Cobra, I'm sure they could put an automatic transmission in the S2000.
The question is: "Who would want to?"
