Default Permanently lit side markers!!!!

I just cleared out my side markers and now was wondering if I could make them run at all times. Would it mess up the turn signal feature?

I don't think they're are suppose to be on all the time, at least not legally. I remember back in 92-93, when sidemarkers (oem honda ones) first hit the US market, everyone had to have them, and if you did, your car was the bomb. And, of course, everyone who did install them, had them wired to be on all the time, and quite a few got tickets for it.

It's illegal to not have a front license plate too but nobody said anything to me about it.

I put on Civic clear ones. The fit good, but not perfect!!! Pick up any Import Mag or Go online and check out our sponsors...

I think that when the side markers stay lit, it looks very nice. I did it on my integra. I wired them to the parking lights and turn signal. They don't have that fast blinking like everyone else does. It has a normal blinking rate. It makes the car look much nicer when it gets dark. I have been meaning to try it on my S2K, but haven't purchased some clear side markers.

Actually I recall hearing once that the side markers are not required by any particular law; they were originally just added by the manufacturers for a bit of style (and a little extra safety). I think it was one of the German makes that started the trend a few years back and now everyone's doing it.

Anyway, if that's the case (you should try to verify this before doing anything) then modifying them to function as something other than turn signals shouldn't be a legal issue. So you could wire them up as extra parking lights, or connect them to the interior lights...whatever. Sounds like there are some kind of intriguing possibilities.

Let us know what you decide and how it works out.

Cheers,
John

As far as I'm aware, there is no law that requires the side markers only blink, but the law DOES require that they light up amber, hence the need for amber bulbs in clear amrkers.

For one source (and my slight problems with installing them), see my webpage...
