Picked up new S2K today
Hey all. I'm new to the board, but then again, I'm new to the S2000 world. As of yesterday I had never ever seriously considered owning one, even though I have always admired them. I have had a 2001 BMW 325i up for sale for about a month now, and for some reason the market's been pretty soft, and I had not gotten any serious bites on the car, so just out of curiousity, I took it out to a Honda dealer today. They had a red 2000 S2K on the used car lot and I thought I would take a look at it. One look at the Suzuka on the new car floor, though, and I was hooked. It took a lot of haggling on the value of my trade-in, but 4 hours later I drove out with my new S2K. And I am totally hooked. The dealer had added front and rear spoilers and the side strakes, which I was not too crazy about, but hey, who the hell cares! It was number 11 of the 12 '02s he was going to get, and the last one coming was black, which I would find hard to keep clean. As a former 99 Miata owner, I can definitively say this car is in a class all of its own. There are drawbacks of course, perhaps the most serious one being why should a $22,000 Miata have a 200watt Bose stereo that sounds awesome with the top down at highway speed while the S2K makes do with a stereo more appropriate for a teenager's boom box (I know, who needs a stereo with that glorious exhaust note anyway). Anyway, I have lots of questions about the car, but the most important one is, how the hell do you get through the first 600 miles????
For your question....the answer is ....SLOWLY , after that you'll be able to learn ton's about your s2k on this site. One way to go about things it to use the search function. If you have a question, there is a 99.9% chance that it's been discussed and re-discussed. Yes we are all unhappy about the music. One saving grace is that for my first many miles I barely had the stereo on because I loved listening to my s2000 engine...once you get past 600 and hear V-TEC the first time you'll probably wet your pants! There is tons of information on fairly inexpensive to expensive ways to upgrade your sound. So enjoy your s2k. If you have a digicam...posting pics is a friendly MUST (not a requirement).
congratulations on your new s2000. welcome to the club. just hold off with the v teching for the first 600 miles. after that, you are v tech free. also, nice color choice
i was thinking about getting that color, but decided to go with yellow. good luck with your new car

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, I have already discovered the search functions and I won't be polluting the board with questions or threads that have already been discussed. Trust me, the BMW boards were merciless about this (esp. Roadfly). OK, obligatory pics! Sorry for the size, these are raw and I haven't had time to edit them down.
Oh, and re: the question on the blue? It's a perfect combination. That blue interior is incredible, very classy, very understated. When it was in the showroom, everyone, men, women, children, young and old, were drawn to it like moths to a flame. And inevitably they would run their hands over the leather, you could virtually see the lust in their eyes! LOL, what an emotional car.

I think Honda put in 6th gear for the break-in period. You can get up to 82 mph at 5,500 rpm.
Good choice. We have a white '92 Accord that has a blue interior. As far as I can tell, the interior is the same as the Suzuka Blue interior. It is very livable.
I've got a black interior in my '93 Prelude and in my S2000. I like it.

Welcome to the Blue Crew! Excellent choice for the elusive Blue. Get ready for a lot of attention and plenty of questions from admiring passerby's:
What kind of car is this?
Is this a Miata?
Is this a Ferrari?
What's the horsepower?
9000 RPM? You're kidding me!
This is a Honda?
How fast can it go?
Can I have a ride?

Hey Suzuka Flyer..welcome! Don't sweat the 600 miles thing...i'm planning on finishing that up in a weekend. Right now my car has been garaged for ab out 3 and 1/2 weeks of the 4 weeks I've owned it...damn NJ insurance...pain in my ass. I see the car everyday in the garage when I goto work...it kills me..I wanna drive it..I've only driven it for 350 miles!!...I'm getting very annoyed at the insurance company. Anyway, enjoy the car, you'll hit 600 waay before I do. I can't wait!! Laterz!!
