I agree that Honda should get rid of the all red interior, but every car company has to make a decision on what colors to make for each car they sell. The more options they have, the higher their costs which is passed onto us. I don't think Honda needs to offer any more colors than they already do, just maybe use some different ones.
It has to do with a companies responsiveness to the consumer. Some companies bend over backwards to accomodate the consumer - honestly, it's a smart business practice. Others are not so accomodating. With respect to the interior colors, it is apparent by reading many comments going way back (I've been lurking on this board for quite a while) that Silverstone was one of the most popullar exterior colors. Also, while some have expressed that they are thrilled with the all red interior, the predomindant comment has been that the combo color was the way to go. A company that was responsive to the consumer would be sharp enough to read the market, and offer colors accordingly. How could it escape them if they were responsive? With respect to the mechancial end of the equation, I have read many accounts on this board about the problems people have had with the clutch, and the response that Honda has had. Sure, there are some who abused the car, but I can't believe that there would be that many that were refused repair under warranty. Overall, it's indicative of the attidude that the company has. A company that is trying to build a reputation of catering to the consumer goes out of it's way to accomodate them. Other companies are just oblivious. It seems Honda is just oblivious. Overall, I do question where the information came from with respect to the combo interior. If it was just rumor, then it's just the consumers misfortune, albeit stupid business practice on the part of Honda. But if it came from Honda, then it's plain misrepresentation. Either way, it's just bad business. But the bottom line is that the consumer is spending hard earned money on thier purchase, And if they are not getting what they want - don't buy. Then let the marketing division figure out where they went wrong (e.g. complaints with the color combos? complaints with honoring the warranty?). It's the only way that the consumer is empowered - don't buy if you're unhappy.
Chexmix; I think you'll love your new S, and there's nothing more classic than a roadster with red leather! Whatever color interior, they all seem more subtle without a mix of colors, ie, red/black. One of the faults I see with the C5 Vette convertible is the three-way color mix in tne interiors. I previously owned a '60 MGA roadster, white w. red leather, and a 78 Vette, silver w. red leather, loved 'em both. EVERYTHING inside that Vette was bright red, even the steering wheel, and I never tired of it. I bought my S in Sebring/black because that was what came in, but I love it, too. I would own our car in any of its colors; they ALL look great, well, maybe not a yellow with red or blue seats.
news2000fan, The choosing of the interior colors verus the level of service provided by the dealerships have NOTHING to do with one another. I can say the reverse thing... Suppose that I hate the red/black interior combo and Honda is now offering only the all red interior in 03. Does this mean that they have only responded to my personal preference? Absolutely not. Honda does not exist to only service and bow down to one single individual when it comes to what to put in their cars. They do exist however to service the majority. Service may be a different story, but highly dependent on which dealer you deal with.
For those of you that put down the all red interior, and even decided to reject ownership of the car because of it, its your lose. It's a great car, nevertheless.

Long shot but.................how hard is it to put red seats and red door inserts into a black interior car? OK the carpet is a bit much I could live with a black carpet but heck. Seats and door inserts isn't that much to ask for.
OMG!

I just don't get it. The '03 brochures clearly show a red/black interior. Not this ALL RED again!
No disrespect to the folks who own the ALL RED interior, just my preference is all. I feel bad. I posted threads on this board showing that the ALL RED was gone and the brocures even proved that.
Geez. . .

Damn it Honda!
Are you having trouble hearing what we want. Take away this ALL RED and give us Monte Carlo Blue for crying out loud!
