Pics and report about new Antenna.
On the more lighter side of my life other than my car nearly gone up in flame, here is some pics and info about the antenna only available in Japan for a while.
It cost about $15 and long before many disapproved of its look but hey I like it.
Anybody can remove the antenna, just turn it counterclockwise, duh!

This is the part number for the alternative antenna.

Here is two antennas side by side.

The new antenna put on.

Well does this make my car look silly looking more like remote control car? No...
I like the slimer profile very much and it doesn't protrude and stick out like you may think so despite the longer length. I have yet to test the strength of the radio reception thoroughly but should be stronger than before.(I will report back soon)
Some of you may not like this look as well as potential theives who may look out for S2000 antennas. So in this way I may thwart potential thieves while my good ol antenna sits safe and sound in my S2000 parts museum.
I got this from my friend in Japan, but I am sure you will have no problem getting this from MG Racing, contact Mr. Giampiero if interested.

Thanks for posting this, 1Randyc. Would be very curious about the potential gain with the longer whip as the stock antenna is pretty bad. As an amateur radio operator, I can see how your new one should indeed provide better reception.
Most handheld VHF/UHF radios come with "stubbies" like our stock antenna. Aftermarket models tend to look very similar to your new one and do provide much better performance IMHO.

Today on the way to work I get to test out whether this new antenna is any better than the stock.
Well... it is!
Basically I listen to one radio station which I can listen around my home but as I get close to my work place it becomes unlistenable.
There is still some static noise but basically I can listen to the station when I couldn't listen at all because of constant static noise.
So I am happy that this worked out.

This thing looks an awful lot like a VW antennae. There was a thread on this forum some time ago about S2000 antennaes getting stolen by VW owners because it was a direct transplant. You should go to VW and check out what they charge or if you know of a VW owner, just swap. He might want yours, you might want his.
