Pivot Mini Shift Lamp Review
I just got my Pivot mini shift lamp from Leo @ http://www.jdmspecperf.com and I just want to give credit where credit is due.
It is currently in stock for only $80. I got mine within 3 days.
Here's some pics from my friend's car:
The thing is so tiny and you can hide the control unit anywhere you want. It just simply plugs into your cig lighter. Set the RPM and brightness and off you go! Definately one of the coolest products out there. Available in white, red, or blue

I would have to give more credit to Modify's invention and MUCH cheaper.

But the Pivot thing is kinda cool too. But I don't see the rationale behind putting it so low. If you've gotta look down that far, wouldn't you see the tach anyway? The whole idea with the beeper is that you don't need to look down. I would have put the light near the top of the "A" pillar so that it's more in the driver's line of sight.
I checked out the link you posted, but they seem to have very little information on it. None of the pictures worked, and there is only a few lines describing the product. I'm surprised they sell any of these things with so little information avaliable.
Installation must be pretty easy though, since it only needs power and no other wiring, but $80 for an LED light sounds a little high, and an additional $60 just for a larger LED sounds out of proportion.
Did it come with any information on how it senses engine rpm? I assume the unit uses "alternator whine" present in the electrical system to determine how fast the engine is running. Interesting concept.
You mentioned it was pretty bright, but I was curious if it auto-dims at night? I would imagine if it's bright enough to get your attention in sunlight, it would be seriously annoying at night.
xviper - yes, you could connect a similar light to my unit and it would blink 3 times just before your shift point, then come on steady at your pre-set shift rpm. But mine won't change settings if your alternator belt gets loose. Maybe I can work on that.

You can adjust the brightness and rpm via the little box. I usually have it set on half during night time because full is just too bright.
I just checked the site and the pics work for me. I'll link them here:

Your right though, the second one doesn't work. The info it came with is all in Japanese and I can't read it.
It's not just $80 for the light though. The expensive part is the control unit. Everything comes together and if done right, the wires can be hidden behind the dash making this a very clean install.
