Default Is the plastic rear window a pain?

Well this weekend I plan to look at a NFR 00 and a SY 01 and I was just wondering what the rear plastic window is like. Top will be down most of the time as I live in Socal. I plan to get the top changed for a glass one eventually.

It isn't so bad. My first S2000 (01 Spa Yellow) had the plastic window. It was pretty faded and dull, but after a good hour of elbow grease and plastic cleaner it looked like new. All you really need is either the mat (I believe Muz made it) that goes inside the car where the top folds down into or use a towel like i did. It kept the inside of the plastic from getting scratched/stained from the dust inside.

Some plastic windows have weird creases in it because it doesn't fold down right though. Easy fix. When putting the top down half way, step out the car and fix the window so it folds in half and lower it the rest down. After a couple times it should stay the same shape when folding.

I had the towel on the inside in the tray, as well as rolling a towel up and placing it in the crease of the window to keep the plastic rounded at the fold point. Kept the weird fold marks away.

I had an '01 and it was the one major disappointment with the car. It takes a lot of work to keep it looking decent. I would always recommend waiting for an '02+ or replacing with a glass top ASAP.

Plastic window is an abomination and a new top is neither cheap nor easy to replace.

I still have the factory top on my '00. It isn't that bad, but look foward to getting a glass window when I replace the top this summer.

My robbins top is holding up well. Had a little accident during the cold when it folded down at a sharp angle and made a crease. Immediately, put it up and helped fold it back to normal but the mark as left there. Should flatten completely during the hot summer days. but so far it's still all clear and clean.

The plastic isn't optimal but when you have the top up your visibility is pretty much bad anyway. If anything happens to my top I am getting a hardtop.
