Not really.
If all hondas were expensive from the beginning they would be seen as prestigous because only people of a higher income could afford them. Crappy reliability doesn't make a car prestigous.
BTW BMW's have free maintenance til 50k and Porsches have had high quality and reliability marks in the past, pre-Cayenne.
My friend tracked his 3 series a few times and then took it to the dealer and told them to check his brakes. The brakes were worn so they replaced them for free!
