Need some help please, Wont to get 18" wheels. Looking for something I like at a good price (duh! who's not). Checked out http://www.tirerack.com/index.jsp like the price, but only have one choice and don't like. Found wheel I like (pic below) at http://www.s2000-honda.com/main.htm but $2399 is a little more than I wont to spend. Anyone who has 18" wheels please help? I have a red S2000 and don't care for black or white wheels.

1 Post pictures of your wheels on car and comment on pros and cons.
2 Let me know where and how much.
3 What brand and size tires.

Thanks,
William

i don't mind... too bad i don't have them on my car yet. gonna be a little while until i put them on. they ran me close to $4k w/tires, so $2399 ain't so bad for 18" rims that you can be sure FIT. Works are very good lookin rims, just too many people have them.

Hi wil

I am in the UK and have spent the last 5 weeks trying to sort some 18's for my S2000. I thought u guys in the
states were way ahead of us but i finally got there

Two hours ago I had 18x8 bk racing 7 spoke alloys
fitted with 235/40 18 tyres on rear 225/40 18 on the front
Because its a rare car the suppliers were a little bit
cautious about confirming 100% they would fit but I took a
chance anyway. Needless to say they went straight on and
look fantastic. In fact it handles just the same

Boy do you boys pay. Have you thought about trying to source your wheels from over here and have them shipped to you. I enquired and the shipping is approx $200.

I only paid

William,

If you look at the pictures...there are two with wheel dimensions...

18x7.5 (+55mm)
18x8.5 (+55mm)

The offsets are awsome...good job VTECxTurbo!!!

None of my business, but I can't understand why those good looking wheels sitting in your garage?
If you look at the picture you posted...he has the HKS exhaust chillin back there too. My guess is that VTECxTurbo is waiting for a set of spirngs to come in so he can trick out his car all at one time!!!

William,

What is the correct size tires? Is it F 225/40 ZR18 - R 255/35 ZR18?
225/40/18 and 255/35/18 are good tire sizes for 18x7.5 and 18x8.5 dimension wheels.

I perfer 215/40/18 and 245/35/18 because of the lower profile. The problem is that those sizes do not exist by one single tire manufacturer (215/40/18 and 245/35/18). I had to mix and match...Yokohama Parada in front and Toyo T1-S in back.

Ray's Engineering Volk TE37's.
18x7.5 (+48mm) and 18x8.5 (+50mm).
215/40/18 and 245/35/18.

Andy,

Could you e-mail me or post some pictures? Not sure what the exchange rate is on pounds? In England do you have several styles to chose from?

Unicron,

Sorry for my ignorance, but I meant to ask what does offset mean in layman's terms? What size tires have the same diameter and will kept the speedometer and car height the same?

Thanks,
William

William,

I posted some stuff about offset on this discussion:

http://www.s2000online.com/forums/showthre...p?threadid=8119

Oh what the heck...

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/offset.htm

Offset is the distance from the center of the wheel to the mounting surface of the wheel.

In our cars, we have a high positive offset number.
The factory wheel offsets are +55mm (front) and +65mm (rear), which are pretty high, and that is why the wheels are inside the wheel well. If the factory wheel offsets were +45mm (front) and +55mm (rear), they would be more flush with the fender...but there would be the danger of the tire rubbing the fender if you car is lowered.

On my car...I have 18x7.5 (+48mm) in front and 18x8.5 (+50mm) in rear. The front looks fine to me...but the rear is close to it's minimum offset. Look below and you will see that the wheel is pretty even with the fender. If it was +48mm...it wouldn't fit right.

http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1553...ence=0&res=high

You should try to keep diameter close to stock (24.8 inches).
215/40/18 and 245/35/18 are 24.8 inches...225/40/18 & 255/35/18 are around 25 inches.

The bigger the diameter compared to stock diameter, the slower the car will read on the speedometer.
