This happens to be my first post here, so hopefully I'll make it good.

My local dealer has a few S2000s for sale and I am very interested in them. I really like the silver/ black with yellow a bit too flashy. Anyway, they are selling the cars at $32000 flat, which is a good deal considering the markups going around. However, this is without options. They also sell the S2000 with every option (you must buy every option) as a package for roughly $38K. I really like the front lip and spoiler, and think that the other packages are nice but not neccessary. I asked to see a lease plan and it is over $560 a month for the packaged S2K which is outrageous. My question is: will the fully optioned S2K have a significantly higher resale value down the road? If not, then I should simply get the base and buy the front lip and spoiler online?

Right now, I have a 92 GSR (will NOT be selling), and it wants the S2000.

If any of you go to H-A.net or Honda-tech.com you've probably seen me.

Thanks for any answers...

My opinion, I bought base S2K, and will add the chin and rear spoiler. You can get factory accessories else where. Just my opinon.

Please visit s2ki.com and check out all the FAQs regarding taking delivery etc...

Buy it for 32000 and pick up the extras later. You shouldn't have to spend over $1000 to get the exrtas you want.

How 'bout the block heater and security system? Don't you want that?

I would tend to believe the resale value may be lower with those things installed or at least it may be more difficult to sell.

It sounds like you want a few of the options which you can obviously get later for much less than $6k. Unless you really feel compelled by the other options, I'd skip it and add just what you want with plenty of money left over.

Buy the car and forget the options. No way the options will increase the resale value proportionately to their cost. Look up any car you like base and optioned on http://www.carpoint.com to see how Kelly bluebook values the options.

Unless Honda offers a 350 hp VTEC V6 option. That would be another matter.

I do agree. Options don't really seem to up resale value when it comes to taking it back to a dealership to sell or tradein. if you sell privately I can imagine it upping your resale value but that depends on what options they are I guess.

Can someone tell me whether it's good to get the block heater and security sys?

Get the base.. I think a lot of us (at least in CA) got many of out options becase they were forced. I'm sure you can get the spoilers and stuff at a much much cheapter price later on in you decide you really want them.

Get the base model. That's a pretty good deal for the base. The dealers make a lot of money off of the options. It's better to buy the spoiler and other effects and install them later.
