I would have refused to pick up the car in the first place, and said you want them to order you another car.

This is what I did with both new cars I purchased (I'm 18, on my 3rd car now, but the S2K was used)... I ordered them with a deposit ($500 or whatever), then on the day I went to pick it up, I'd do a full once-over on the car, inspecting it, before I finalized the paperwork.

Luckily on both my cars there were no issues, but I think its because when I worked out the deal in the first place they knew full-well that if anything was wrong with the car, I wouldn't take delivery.

Good luck with your car. have them redo the clear coat for just the trunk lid. If it still looks like shit, have them completely repaint the trunk lid.

Man, that sucks. Honda's paint sucks.

it's black? then it's not a big deal to match the paint color. if it was another color like yellow, or blue. But with the Berlina Black I don't think it's that big a deal to have them paint it.

Screw the paint job. Have a new trunk shipped to you and replaced by the dealer. If they say it will take several months, fine, but get it in writing and take the crappy trunk-ed one until the replacement trunk arrives. When you buy a new car it should be perfect, no issues and no excuses. Get what you paid for.

What the hell is the difference if he gets a new trunk shipped to him? It comes unpainted, so the local dealer has to get it painted anyway. How would that make sense?

A pre-painted Berlina was what I was suggesting so that there is no doubt about matching the paint.

They dealer can't order a prepainted Berlina, it's not possible. Honda isn't going to take the trunk off of a complete car and put it on another. Especially since the VIN is probably listed on it somewhere. I am telling you the Berlina is probably the easiest of colors to match for a paint shop. So just let the dealer repaint it. Save yourself all the headache.
