Default Poll: Hidden paint damage under windshield tape

I'm trying to figure out whether it's a good idea to remove my windshield tape. So I want to know what perecntage of those people who have removed the tape had imperfect paint underneath

You'll need a broader poll for this. Do a search and you may find the information you seek.

Also, I had minimal surface scratches but used some Fine Cut Rubbing Compound and took care of it.

REMOVE your tape. I had two spots that had fine scratches that looked like they had been sanded. A few minutes with the 3M Swirl Mark Remover and they were gone. No problem.

I took my tape off in about 5 minutes, no scratches or glue left on the windshield frame

I removed mine a couple months ago on my '02 and found two areas, the biggest being half dollar size, that are sanded down to very little paint. Definitely need some touch up work.

I'm glad to see this poll. I've wanted to peel mine off, but I've been a bit leary.
I'm hoping that the problem is less than what I've been seeing.
