Also weight does has alot to do with the throw of the car. Before i sold my S2000 i used about 5 different shiftknobs.. from my own protypes to a lot of Japanese bran ones.
More weight in the knob = easy shift
less weight in the knob= requires more shove!
I have a black carbon fiber knob (think Team Voodoo size, shape with black cf finish) and it's light as heck! Anyone who wants it, throw me $15 and it's yours. But seriously, this is a great idea if properly applied. There has to be weight in there somehow. As for my current Momo Shot knob, this sucker is MAGNUM sized and heavy new, but I wanted even MORE weight so I unscrewed the top and placed lead tape in there. I've posted all this before but thought the pic enclosed is a good way to show how to create the carbon fiber look while maintaining proper weight. An all-black carbon fiber knob would look awesome (the black cf knob I mentioned above looks nice) but where would the weight come from? I was thinking it'd work if I wrapped leap tape around the stem of the shift but the axis of weight would change as well.
