Default Poor keyless entry range

What is the range on everyone's keyless entry remote? Mine seems to be getting worse all the time, even after new batteries in the remote. I need to be within 3 feet of the car for it to work, and even then I need to push it several times before it locks. Has anyone had this, or know of any remedies?

Hold the key fob against the bottom of your chin with your mouth part way open and then try to lock/unlock your car. That should give you more range.

I take it you have tried the battery. BTW, this is the library, no talking here. JK. But seriously, this is not supposed to be a place to start threads that ask questions. There are zillion other forums for that. This is supposed to be a place to look up reference material.

Don't lose money at the dealer!

I was looking for replacement keyless entry remotes not too long ago and I found a site that had them for $39.99 NEW for my S2K.

I had them delivered in less than a week and the programming instructions only took maybe 10 seconds?

Anyways, here's a link to the site:

Just click the Honda category, or type S2000 in their search box.

Wait a minute here. This IS the place to ask questions. At least, I hope it still is, because I've asked a lot of them right here, and have gotten some good answers. And yes, the remote should work at about 50 feet, with no obstructions. I should know. At my age, I often have to hit the red "panic" button to find my car in the damned parking lot!

Thanks,
Richard

You can get longer range if you aim the remote up into your chin...probably 2-3x the distance...just do it quick so nobody thinks your crazy...lol

I don't doubt it but, can anyone explain why?

That's so weird. I always thought my keyless remote range was pretty crappy until I was at school at night one time and I forgot if I locked my car or not. So I tried using the keyless remote at about 70+ feet away, nothing. Walk a little closer ... 65 ... 60 ... nothing. Then a little after 60 feet away, I tried holding it up a little higher (but not up to my chin) and it worked.

Maybe it'll wear out in time.

I can get almost 100ft in an open parking lot. I get maybe 10-15ft out of the "chin" mod. (Glad I'm not the only one who does that )

You sure the right battery is in there?

Does anyone know where the receiever on the car is?
