Poping noise and speed bumps....
A few days ago my front end had a small scrape with the incline at my local gas staition. I was going a bit fast but it did not sound bad. I looked for damage but I could not find very much. Now sometimes when I go over speed bumps I hear a kind of pop from the front of the passenger side of the car. I look again for damge and I can not find any anywhere expect oor a few scrapes on the very bottom of the bumper and the part that sticks down in front of the tires. I never noticed the noise before. What am I hitting when I go over bumps? Whap damage am I doing?
No insight for you here but I can sympothize. I have to go through a toll booth area that has a 60mph approach. There's an area right between the approach and the booths that is a slowdown area, though nobody does. This area has rows small to medium size speed bumps to serve as a reminder to slow down. For 99% of all the vehicles that normally cross these I'm sure it's no problem. But for the S, if I run through these at anything over 15 mph it feels and sounds like the car is going to rattle apart. So I have to choose to deal with the severe rattle bumps or risk getting rearended by someone.
I have the same problem. (speed bump popping noise) Took it to the dealer this morning.. they are gonna repair the problem under warranty. There is an area in the suspension where there are 4 spot weld points.. The service department told me they would remove some of the undercoating and do a full weld around that area on both sides. Take your car to the dealer... they should fix it for you.
