Sure, just get F20C1 crank and rods. (The head has some different part numbers, but it appears that the F22C head can still handle 9000rpm.) My guess is that it's a lot more labor intensive than just swapping in an F20C1 engine, but you'll save a lot of money on parts.

On Honda Automotive Parts, the crank is $728 and each rod is $117. $1196 total. They also say an entire engine block $2082, so if the difference in labor is $886 just get the whole block instead.

If you do this your car will likely be the slowest S2000 on the road until you also change the transmission and final drive.

Why's that? It'd be an AP1 style engine with the AP2 style shorter gearing, therefore he should actually be a little faster than most AP1s assuming he doesn't have to do an extra shift.

why move backwards when Honda is obviously moving forward with the 2.2, especially now that the JDM s2000 uses 2.2?

No - it's the worse thread ever b/c it's a real question turned into a hate thread between 2.0L vs 2.2L by the non-newbs...even though in the end, it's the same damn car.

Only Elistan has offered real (and valuable) information to the thread.

Now back to the question: If you really want to get rid of the 2.2L -- I would def suggest purchasing a F20C, that way you can sell the F22C and you can probably recover most of your initial costs of getting the F20C.

I know some people who just rev the 2.2 to 9k rpm, I dont know how long the engine will last but it has been done.
