Default Is it possible to replace the cover?

I like the <04 steering wheel center piece more than the 04 one. Are they direct replacements for each other? I guess I like circles more than trapezoids.

Thumbs up

Just wondering if I can go to Honda and have them put a new steering wheel cover over the wheel? Are the older ones a direct fit for the new S2K's...I hope so?

If you ever find out, post here again! I like the pre-04 circles more, too.

Yes, the pre'04's and the '04 steering wheel & airbag are interchangeable. Here is a list of model year srs component comparison:

MY '00-'03 : same driver steering wheel and airbag
MY '04: new driver steering wheel and airbag introduced
MY '00-'04: same srs unit (airbag computer)
MY '00-'04: same passenger airbag (excluding cover color variations)
MY '00-'01: same seatbelts
MY '02-'04: new seatbelts introduced but same throughout these years

*Not sure about combining '04 steering wheel with pre-04 driver airbag though. I would assume you can simply drop it in but don't hold me to it.

I would like to modify my 01 steering wheel - it's much too fat in the side spoke area to suit me. Removing the cover and reshaping, I'm assuming, should not be too difficult; however, I can't find any place that will restich it. The auto upholstery shops I've stopped at so far all shake their head no.

I have a 2000 Honda S2000 with only 15,000 miles and I like the 2004 center better. If yours is in mint condition, I would swap mine for yours.

I am not sure if onlt the SRS units are interchangeable, I know the steering wheels are, but I like my steering wheel.

'00-'01 have a different "H" emblem on the airbag than the '02-'03. The circle on the early ones are a dark gray, while the new ones have a brushed aluminum look. Other than that, they are the same.

The only thing I can confirm is that Honda references the same part number when it comes to the MY '00-MY '03 S2000 driver side airbag.

Hmmm, so they do. From the factory they are slightly different.
