Just last weekend, after having the car up on jackstands in the garage, I lowered it onto some pieces of 2x4 (extra clearance). Rather than crank the car and drive it off the 2x4s, I reached in, dropped the parking brake, and leaned against the door jam to get the car moving. Just as it came off the wood, the open drivers door made contact with some cement tile board that I forgot I had stacked against the garage wall. Grrr.... Took some paint off the inside lip of the door, and I swear the door gap is off by a fraction of an inch now.

How's that for a dumb ass move?

^ pretty good...

the first time i drove mine i got to the start button fine, but thought that it was like so many other push button starts, that also shut it off. so i got a bit of a starter on fly wheel grind as our start button doesn't stop the car too...

won't ever make that mistake again

Didn't happen with the S but I dropped the Z in my sig off a floor jack. The jack rammed up into the oil pan, crushing it. That was a $475 oil change, counting the tow to the dealer.

I did the opposite when I test drove a Mini Cooper S a few months ago. I was used to the s2k so when I parked the MCS, I attempted to pull the key out. I sat there for a couple of minutes trying to figure out how to turn the car off, and was about to just stall the car so it would shut off, when I realized the start button also said stop on it.

That has to be my dumbest moment as well. I think it's pretty common.

my dumbest moment was when I went to pick up my girlfriend from work for the very first time(first week of owning the car).

My girlfriend walks out of the store with several of her coworkers. She comes to the car and tries to open the door, the passenger door was locked so I attempted to use the key fob, didn't work. I then attempted to unlock it manually, didn't work. I turned on the dome light and scrambled to find a unlock button, no where to be found. I ended up taking the key out of the ignition and opened it finally with the fob about a minute later.

Was picking the car up from the dealer and a service guy parked it out front. When I went to start it I let my foot off the clutch and stalled it cause it was in first. I never leave my car in first when parked.
I always leave my car in first when parked. It only takes one time when parked on a slight hill to have something strange happen, emergency brake loose, etc. and a rollin' you will go. I never leave it in neutral.

Some peeps might think this was dumb....

I drove over 1800 miles in 31 hours three months ago. Took a few naps in parking lots on the way when I got sleepy. Saved $$$ on lodging.

The dredded miss-shift!!!!!!! Did it twice in my '07. Both 3rd to 2nd. I have never done this before in my 19 years of driving. I felt like a moron and sick to my stomach after each miss-shift.
Both happened with the Voodoo shift knob. I love the feel of it, but I am not as precise with it. The stock knob is staying on my '09. Not saying the Voodoo is bad, just doesn't work well with me.
