Default Posting Service/Electrical Manuals on my Website?

Would it be legal for me to scan/post the Service + Electrical Troubleshooting Helm manuals on my website?

As long as it is not-for-profit, holding no liability for user error, and for the benefit of S2000Online members...?

Or if it is solely for "my own use" so I can access my own service manuals from my wireless laptop while in the garage?

What do you all think?

My take on it would be to read the infringement clause located at/near the beginning of the manual.

More than likely it would be illegal for you to scan and post the manual online even if you're not doing it for profit....you are eating into their [future] sales.

However, your argument to scan and post it on YOUR website for YOUR use should be completely within boundaries. That manual in your possession is exactly that....it's YOURS. You can tear the pages out of it to start camp fires, you can wipe your butt clean with the pages, use it to pick up oil spills, etc.

If you scan and post it for your use, you should be fine....if others get wind of what address you're hosting the scans at no fault of your own, you can't do anything about it.....your recourse is to change the address or file locations everyso often; if the publisher wishes to sue, then it is up to them to burden your costs of address change, file restructuring, change of host, etc.

So go ahead scan and post, just don't publicize where the site is at...BTW, my email addy is Luder94@hotmail.com, can you forward me the address (I promise not to tell anyone else).

Luder.

Thank you! I am purchasing a document feeder for my scanner... I will remove the binding of the manuals and free up the pages.

I will let everyone know where I view MY manual from for MY personal information for working on MY vehicle...

Even if he changes the address frm time to time, the mere fact that the public CAN access it (even through trial and error of addresses) means it would be illegal. He could scan it and put it on an internal LAN or password protected site (where only HE knows the password), but anything else would be considered illegal.

That being said, put it on a password protected site (and let me know what the password is )
