Potential StopTech Group Buy....
I potentially have a line on a group buy for some custom-made Stoptech brakes for the S2000. I was speaking with the owner of a local shop (he also happens to be ex-formula one) about my A4 and I mentioned that I had an S2000. Well we started talking and he gave me some VERY interesting info regarding brakes. He carries both Brembo and Stoptech and he can document how Stoptech will walk all over Brembo. During our conversation, I mentioned that I might have a line on a group of individuals who would be interested in some Stoptech brakes if they made them for the S2k. He said he was sure that they would be interested if there were enough people and since he is a personal friend with the owner of Stoptech, he would be able to supply them to all of you for a good price. His thoughts were that they would be considerably less than the Brembo kit.
I would like to know who would be interested in a group-buy so that I can get back to him.
(DISCLAIMER: I am not in any way, shape or form associated with either of these groups and I am not going to be making any money on this. This is simply an enthusiast letting fellow enthusiasts know about a potential opportunity)
Some of the facts that he brought to my attention regarding Stoptech brakes are:
* Their rotors have a patented alloy material that makes them much more rigid than Brembo.
* Their rotors purge 30% more heat than Brembo.
* Their calipers have a patented "backbone" structure that makes them 300% more rigid than the Brembo's on the 996.
Last year at the 24 Hours of Daytona, there was an M5 (yeah, that fat, obese mother) that was equipped with Stoptech brakes. All the cars that were equipped with Brembo's had to stop every 7-8 hours in order to change out their cracked and warped rotors. The M5 however, never had to change its brakes!!!
