Potentially youngest S2000 owner?
People may think you are spoiled because you create a thread titled: "Possibly youngest s2k owner?" like it is something to be proud of. If it were not for your parents paying for all of your living expenses it would not be possible for you to do it so be grateful of their generosity.
However, most kids I knew in high school that had everything handed to them had not appreciation for what they were given and usually totaled the car or blew up their motor. Remember that hard work and perseverance usually pay off in the end and those kids that are spoiled are going to have a hard time getting a job out of college with no on the job experience...
Good luck on your car search and be careful with the car.

I assume the second paragraph isn't directed at me, so I'm going to let it go.
@Graf-Fiti: First of all, technically they have to provide for my transportation somehow. I attend a school (decided upon by my parents) which has no buses or any other form of provided transportation. Thus, paying for gas is a necessity if they want me to get an education. Despite that, as I said above, I truly appreciate everything they've provided for me, and I don't see how them paying for my gas suddenly makes me spoiled and undeserving of a car I'm paying for by going to school/working for for 12-15 hours a day. Unless your work day is longer than that, please don't tell me I'm not working hard to be able to do this.

I made the title in an attempt to attract people. Normal thread titles typically don't attract much attention. Second, did I ever say I didn't appreciate all my parents have provided for me? I really do. My childhood wouldn't have been ANYWHERE near what it was thanks to them.

I can understand where graffiti is coming from. Im only 18 and paid for my S, insurance, and my gas (commuting to school) on my own. I worked my ass off (and still do) to pay for those. Yes my shelter is paid for my parents but thats all. food, gas, insurance, parking, car; etc is all paid by me. And Trust me everyone has school and 12-15 hours of school to deal with. i work almost full time with 18 credits this semester. It can be done if your a hardworking, goal-oriented person. Also it helps if you find a well paid job lol.
You gotta understand from graffiti's point of view. alot of guys on most car forums hate to see some 18 year old pick up a nice expensive car. Kinda ruins earning your car. Personally my future kid is gonna get a POS from me and he can pay for his own sports car. And my parents are pretty well off. They could have afforded to pay for my car too. But trust me if you pay for it yourself you will appreciate it more and you'll think twice b4 doing something stupid.
A s2000 your parents bought you is just your toy that even if you **** up it doesnt matter.
A s2000 you paid for with your own money is your baby. You don't want anything bad to happen to it.
Why are you guys hatin' on a potential new owner of an s2k? I'm sure no miata forum would do such a thing
By all means, suggest alternatives like different cars or finance options, but don't compare your adolescence to his.
Anyways, he clearly stated he is gonna be taking out a loan, meaning he will be taking a lot of responsibility with this purchase. Since he comes from a car enthusiast family, he even has their support with regard of his selection. It's not that uncommon for parents to pay (or lend them money) for their teen's first car for college (Take a brand new corolla or civic, both cost over $15k which is what he is spending), and it is much more uncommon for parents (I'm talking about my generation) to deny housing, food, allowance, insurance, and gas to their teens.
Anyways, how's your search coming along?

go for it if you can afford the car payments and up keep without living paycheck to paycheck.
You break the motor in a civic, you can find them on craigs for <500 bucks. And its pretty quick and easy to swap in. Your not going to do that on the s2000.
Dont expect ANYTHING to be cheap on the s2000. Anyone can get the loan for the car, but affording to maintain it is another story.
Im not being a dick or trying to stop you, just letting you know its a very spendy car to maintain if/when something goes out.
The rear ends are extremely weak. If your looking at one with high miles. make sure it was taken care of or you know some history on the car.
