Thumbs up Potenza S-03?

Hi guys,

I was checking out on my tires the other day (feels "slippery") and I just found out that I have Potenza S-03s on my car instead of the stock Potenza S-02.

I'm wondering is there a major difference between the two? I assume S-03s are much better on performace. My rear tires about to go out, so it's better to get S-03s to match the front?

Thanx in advance

I thought the S-02 was discontinued so you didnt have a choice but to go S-03?

I seem to recall the S-03 to be slightly less grippy, but longer treadlife. The wheel and tire forum is the place to check

S03 was a replacement for the S02. The S03 was not as good in the dry, but much better in the wet. One of the major complaints about the S02 was that it could be dangerous in the wet.

The S03 is now discontinued. It was replaced by the RE050, which regained the dry performance of the S02 but was also good in the wet.

thanx guys

I just checked the wheel and tire forum too found out more info on the S02 and S03.

Since S03 is discontinued, it seems like I have to replace my rear tires with RE050. However my front tires are fairly new (S03s), is it a good idea at all to have different front and rear tires???

Check with Jim from the tirerack, but I think it should be okay to have different front and rear tires. You could always buy a set of different tires (ie. Sumitomo HTR-Z III https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=565100), front and rear, for less then the cost of the 050s, you could then sell your S02s.

Get Toyo T1R's! I had them on my stock wheels on my AP1 and they had great traction and lasted a while. You pay for what you get my friend.

I think there are better tires than the T1-R out there. I use them currently and they are really nice, but you can get better for less, IMHO.
