Default Powder coated shift knob?

Hey guys! I'm looking at buying the moddiction anvil 2 countersunk shift knob but can't decide on stainless steel or powder coated.

Is there any benefit to powder coated other than asthetics? Like maybe doesn't get hot like bare metal shift knob during summer??

Thanks!

I had my OEM AP1 knob powdercoated and the difference is like night and day. It is much much cooler in the hot summer months than the bare metal ever was. It's also not quite as cold in the winter months as it was when it was bare metal.

Hope this helps.

I guess I don't get the big deal with the other than OEM knobs. Its a shift knob. I have never noticed the stock knob being to hot to handle and I have my top down 98.269% of the time.

I have heard some of the shiny after market ones reflect a lot of light and can be annoying.

I would cover the stupid air bag warnings first, IMO.

Yes it is benefitial keeping the temp down on the shift knob. and like jordan said it doesn't feel so cold in the colder months.

I usually use the textured black coated ones in my cars and it definitely helps quite a bit. I've tested putting coated and non coated in oven to bake. You can touch the coated knob MUCH sooner than bare metal without being burned. Big difference!

I understand a heavier, weighted shift knob can make shifting smoother. So that is one reason to consider aftermarket.

Personally though I'm in the same camp. OEM in a car this well designed is good enough for me.

I have several shift knobs and change them out to get a little different look - keeps it different. I have two that are powder coated white like the old F cars.
