There is noting to compare. The prelude was designed to be a sporty car while the S2000 is a sports car.
Engine, brakes, transmission, suspension etc on the S2000 SCREAM SPORTS CAR ALL THE WAY!

uh... I think he asked about the engine and not the transmission, etc.
However, yes they are right, h22kkills. s2000 is a lot better - just go for a test drive. You'll know what they mean.

With regard to the engine performance, the vtec is a lot more pronounced in the prelude than the s2000. The prelude also feels like it has a bit more torque. the noise at 9000rpm, i can't explain without writing a couple of sonnets. And I won't cos I suck.

Let me put it this way...if you are lying in bed awake worrying about whether your money will be well spent...don't!!!

Even if for some reason you were worried about the power difference not being enough....the rest of the car does everything so much better than the Prelude...you'll be thrilled!

How do I know...my fianc

I traded my 00' Lude in for the S. If you are in a warm climate, there is without a doubt no questions if the S is better. The is is head and shoulders better than the Lude in ever category except for space and versatility. I only have second thoughts when it is snowing and that is about it but the S2's fun factor is 10X more than the Prelude.

Traded my '98 lude for the S.

Engine wise the VTEC on the Prelude feel stronger, however, it doesn't mean it's faster You can also see this from the H22A dyno. The VTEC on the H22A spike up much faster than the F20C (% wise).

yup, the vtec kick is more noticeable in the prelude but that just means the torque is dropping more just before vtec. The S vtec crossover is more linear which is better.

No comparo here, had a 98 SH, the s2k is superior in every performance aspect measurable. The only place the prelude has more power is untill 2000 RPMs, from there on the lighter wait of the s2k and the aggressive final drive make it a much more flexible sports car...
