Default Preventing rust

Just got done installing an amp for the S. Since I had to sand a small spot to expose some bare metal for the ground wire, how do I prevent rust from forming in that area?

You shouldn't have to sand it paint it back again and just drill a hole and screw it in and that's it.

You need bare metal to get a good ground. If its inside the trunk like it should be, you shouldn't have to worry about rust since that area will always be dry. if you live in a really humid area, like at the beach, just paint over the metal and the ground to help seal it.

I can't agree with you more. Boston = salt + rain. SoCal = No snow, no rain, no PRRRAAABLOM.

Oh yeah, just paint over where you just sanded...

Next time, you should use a star washer in between the vehicle and the ground cable. They dig enough to get to the metal without having to sand.

And Yes, you can just paint over the area's that are still bare metal now and be fine.

ah, great idea. since the exposed bare metal area is in the interior of the car, would it be alright if i just cover that area with clear nail polish?

Clear nail polish should work fine. I used it on the exterior of my MINI when someone stole my emblem with a screwdriver and gouged the trunk.
