Default Preventing Top Wear

I have the common "shiny" lines that I keep hearing about from where the top rests on it self when it's down, so I am accepting of that now. But I would like to know if there is anyone who have reinforced wear spots such as corners and where the support bars are and such.

I came across this site: http://www.foreandaftmarine.com/RIGGING%20TAPE.htm

Would any one these products work for this and keep the top flexible and looking the same at least from the outside?

Most of that wear happens when the top is down, not while folding it. I use fabric adhesive to put black canvas patches on wear spots to prevent the wear on the top. The fabric glue works for about 6 months then I just peel the patches off, and glue new ones in place and there is no glue left on the top. Has worked well for me 4 years now.
