previous car
i had an 02 RSX-S before i got the S. the RSX was great car - but was no substitute for an S2K (which is what i really wanted in '02 but couldn't afford it at the time).
luckily my g/f got an 05 RSX-S back in march - so when i get the jones for the RSX-S i just drive hers. they made a lot of improvements IMO with the 05's (bigger wheels, revised final drive, higher redline, etc)...and especially better seats.
with either car (S or RSX-S) you'll be pleased. good luck!
PS: here's a pic of my RSX-S for old times sake:

Two previous sports cars:
97 Prelude SH

03 WRX with STi bits

Now I have the 05 S2K as a fun/sports car, and my ski assault vehicle and all around daily driver is:
05 Outback XT

Oddly, the OB XT feels the fastest of all these cars (250HP/250FT-LB) though it's the slowest on paper.....

Most fun to drive - Del Sol.
Second Car: 00 Honda S2000
Though I loved driving my Sol, I still think my S is 100 times more fun to drive. Don't sleep on RWD handling!!
However, since you had the DOHC, that could have been the deciding factor... I still do not think I would put the Sol above the S2k

3000GT VR-4.. miss the AWD launches.. much faster and top end was much better(DR Stage 3) vs. the S2k.. but the handling was nowhere comparable!
I sold it to move to CA.. and will own another one day.
