I checked with every dealer within a 200 mile radius. Many quoted more than $2,000 above MSRP. The local guy ordered my black/black for $32,960. Thought I did OK until I read this post.

I called a couple of dealers around Chicago and a couple of them are willing to take $1000 -$2000 off MSRP. Possibly $4000... one dealer quoted me $28K but it sounded kinda fishy...? If you're looking around Chicago don't go for MSRP, you could get an even better price.

So, where to go in the SF Bay Area for a 2002? Or should I just forget it and go out of state? I don't mind waiting, as this would be a 2nd car.

Someone on the board bought one for $30K from Chicago and got it shipped to him for like $500 I think. Ey that's better than paying MSRP in your area, but you always run the risk of damage in the transportation.
