Default Problem with my engine

I let a friend drive my S today, he accelerate till 9k in the 4th gear and he miss shift the 5th and he put the 3th only a few instant.
Result: now my engine make a noise from the cylinder head (culasse in french) but the engine still turn normally.

Does anyone know that problem ?

Thanks in advance

Sabry

Try doing a search for mechanical over-rev. It doesn't sound good

Do not drive the car. Have it transported to the dealership where they can determine the extent of the damage. There is no way to know how badly the engine was damaged but if you drive the car it is likely to get a LOT worse.

I hope it's not anything serious, but it sounds very bad and expensive.

As already mentioned, you should search for "over rev" in the S2KI archives.

Over rev can damage valve spring retainers, bend the valves, and worse. Major issues. This is the main reason I don't let friends drive my S2000.

If the car sounds different after the over-rev.... he likely did some damage to the engine. Hope your friend is rich, he may have made a $5000 mistake.....

OUCH! It's certain that there's damage. Hopefully it won't be 5 g's worth. Now's the time that you'll find out how good a friend the guy really is!

Good luck on this one,
Steve R.

Check your valves for similar damage
