The low beam headlight is a HID tube, not a bulb. What information are you looking for in terms of dimensions...?

the actual physical dimension of the projector ball.........

because i have an extra AP1 headlight laying around and my friend is interested in
using the projector inside, but not sure if it will fit into his headlight.....

that's why i wanna know the size, so if it is small enough to fit into his headlight,we
will somehow try to take te projector out and fit it into his headlight....

thanks

Ah, OK, well I looked through the service manual and unfortunately I can't find dimensions for the headlight assembly. Someone will have to measure this for you. Hopefully someone will chime in.

Again, just so you're clear, the HID tube is not a traditional reflector/projector assembly. If you look at your car, it should be obvious what I mean.

Good luck!

Thats not true... our car uses a standard projector with a regular old D2S HID bulb. I think Honda/Acura uses 2.5 inch Valeo projectors but it has been a long time since I surfed an HID forum.

Just to curb the bad info here... there are two ways car companies distribute light in cars:
1) reflector housings, where the bulb sits in front of a series of concave reflective surfaces the distribute the light in a (relatively) uneven and unclear pattern
2) projector housings (what the S2000 has), where the bulb sits behind a convex piece of glass and a metal shield that creates a very intense light pattern that has a very distinct cut-off line.

Most HIDs use projectors to reduce glare above the cutoff line, however older Nissans/Acuras/Benzs do use HIDs in refelctor housings.

As for HID bulbs, they do use a tube with an ignitor, but the shape isnt that different from a traditional H7 halogen bulb. The bulbs in our cars are pretty much the standard bulb type in modern HID cars (D2S)

hidplanet.com is an awesome resource to get HID info and facts.

TJF, thanks for calling me out on that. I apparently had the wrong idea of what the HID tube was. Projector it is.
