:bitchslap:

Unless your date has the worst personality, worst teeth, worst breath and worst looks, GO TO THE PROM.

Just do what you like. I didn't want to go so I said no to the guys that asked (yes I did it very politely explaining that I wouldn't be going). Instead I was treated to a very special evening on the beach complete with proper table settings and hurricane candles. Talking with friends later I know I had the better time. I had just come back from living in Sweden and wasn't very impressed with the let's get drunk concept so just do what you want. Maybe find a girl who is also shy, bored with the concept, or just loves sports cars and prepare a special evening for her on prom night (definately less expensive than the prom for both of you).

I'd say it depends mainly on what you want to do and if all you friends are going to go. If you find a hot broad and all your friends are going to prom then go, but if the bitch is ugly and no one your friends with is going then mod the damn thing. I'd go to prom though cause like people already said its a once in a lifetime thing you'll have all the time in the world to mod you car.

I suspect I'm a bit older than a lot of others on this forum. I just turned 40 (but look and act a lot younger). Here's my 2 cents. Do what is more important to you. I've seen a lot of posts that say you can always do mods. I disagree, once you have a wife and some kids there isn't a lot of money to do "mods" with. That is, if you can even have the type car you would want to mod. Even if you do have the money, you tend to feel like the money would be better spent elsewhere, such as college savings funds. I, for one, have a lot more fond memories of the cars I have driven and had a lot of fun with rather than the girls I dated. Because once you meet the girl you want to spend the rest of your life with you tend to pretty much forget about all those other girls that you slept with and/or dated. And to tell you the truth, I had a lot more fun in high school hangin' out with my friends than I did going to my senior prom, which was pretty much a bore anyway. But then again, I have always been a pretty conservative person. I was never into the drinking and partying scene. I was more concerned with getting a scholarship and deciding where I wanted to go to college. Personally I would do the mods and enjoy them for along time, unless I had some girl that I really wanted to take to the prom. That's my advice for what it's worth.

Man, F*** the prom... Get a date, and throw down some romance away from all the trivial BS, then hit up the prom afterparties... You may still have the cash to do whatever you want with your car, but don't bank on it if you do it right...

I also agree with gheyland, that's why I'm building my car up before I tie the knot... you never know what future financial situations may hold... Enjoy yourself whatever you choose, that is what is most important..
