Thumbs up Proper Mods for Daily Drivers

Now that I've spent a year getting the feel of my 2001 I'm interested in any mods that would enhance the car as a daily driver. I'm looking to avoid performance mods that might otherwise make the ride very harsh or otherwise only show their true colors under track conditions.

I'm already in the process of bringing the whole audio system up to speed.

I'm looking at adding a spoon snorkle for the intake.

I'm considering an x-brace to stifffen the chassis.

Do you think those are worthwile? Anything else to consider?

There's so much - I daily drive my car and have done quite a bit to it. The only things you might want to avoid if you are worried about reliability would be motor work or forced induction. If you put body pieces on you might want to shy away from slamming the car (because of driving into areas with rough roads), but lowering a good bit is quite alright

I'd list my mods but it is easier to say what I have not done *yet*: seats, forced induction, custom pieces within the trunk & interior, a few minor bling things and stuff like switching to a different battery and what not that I have yet to do.....but what I'm trying to say is the sky is the limit Mod Away!

I decided against this for my daily driver because of the possible increased chance of getting water in the intake system. But then, I'm ultra cautious about these things.

If I had an '01, I would probably get a cross brace.

consider getting a nice, cheap beater car. like a CRX. my beater is a CRX, and my weekend toy is my S.

works out quite nicely with insurance, maintenance costs, gas mileage, peace of mind (when parking), etc...

Two of the best and also least expensive mods are (1) the convex outside drivers mirror (really improves rear visibility when the top is up) and (2) a countersunk shift knob (shortens throws and makes an already precise tranny feel more so).

Get a PRM intake.

There's some debate on it effectiveness in terms of power. Some people will tell you a 10hp loss, but I never saw that on my dyno testing - while it did hurt top end a little, it also showed an advantage on the low end. So for a daily driver, it's good that way.

Also, it happens to be the absolute best sounding intake I've ever heard on an S2000.

No chance of water issues either.

Hmm, your 2001 has the carpet center console, right? Get some leather from Rick's as well.
