So lauching the car 7K+ dropping the clutch and feathering with the pedal wont hurt the differential?
from further viewing in the video it looks like he's sorta slipping the clutch cause the car's moving a bit as hes reving it up.
or. was it because he was on a hill. haha

rocrfella - Since we're talking about "launching" a car at 6k+ RPMs, we probably aren't talking about daily driving. Please, be responsible, think before you post.

first off: I know theres many threads about launching the s2k. however both have mixed opinions on what is proper technique.
the first technique seems to be dumping/ side stepping the clutch at like 7k or so revs.
people argue that this will cause damage to the drive train.
The second technique seems to be somewhat of a slip of the clutch as to save shock from the drive train.
people argue that this is wrong and will fry your clutch.

now the way I launch (technique taken from launching my subie back then) was to let the clutch out just before it caught. rev. then let the clutch out/catch. keep pedal to the metal. push clutch down/disengage/slip when revs started dropping to prevent bogging.
I did this to prevent drive train shock (AWD back then)
but others swear by the clutch drop method.
which one is the right way to do it? is there a right way at all?
- thanks

Anyway, the first rule of hard launches is to be sure that you can afford to replace anything you might break (so be careful).
