Proper steering wheel technique?
Hi. When taking a sharp turn, what is proper steering wheel technique? Do you use hand over hand steering? Or, do you keep both hands on the wheel and turn the wheel with neither hand moving from the wheel, both hands gripping the wheel in the same place?
Depending on the turn I use the fixed hand technique if the turn is 90 degree-ish, or if I'm turning right, for example, I put my right hand at 12 o'clock and the left hand at 9 o'cklock and turn right.
I've been reading web sites and practicing in the neighborhood, just now. There is so much to think about when steering now. It's like I have to start all over again, it feels unnatural. Man, using the shuffle technique requires a lot of thinking and I haven't even started to try the Bobby Ore shuffle technique yet.

Haha dooh.
There are two schools, neither one is "correct". It's do what you like best. Shuffle hands is what they taught me at the track from early on and that's what I stick with. The other style where one hand stays fixed and the other moves around is equally good. It's just a style thing. Some people say that the fixed hand method works better in a spin because you always know where you hand should be to go straight.
