Default Property tax on my S is killin me

Hi, I just got my property tax bill on my car: $479, due by October. This is really expensive and outrageous. Isn't it incredible how expensive it is to own a halfway decent car? How does everyone else here afford property tax on top of payments and insurance?

I live in Loudoun County, VA and I hate property taxes too

Property taxes on my car is $642. Thanks to the state's Car Tax Relief program, I only have to pay $260.

It sounds like a lot, but the value of my car was assessed at $15,300. There are many other cars on the road that are worth more than this, but are less than half as fun to drive

Wow, thats not cool! We don't pay property taxes on cars here in MN. We only pay the initial sales tax (6.5%) and license plate tabs every year ($103, but it goes down as the car ages).

Yup! Property tax sucks! Mine's way more than yours, so be thankful. One more reason why I need to get out of SC.

The reason it's not cool is because I'm not getting anything out of it. A third of my salary goes to taxes and it cost me $500 a year just to own a car? I do not want to cut this check.

I always thought car taxes were a good idea. They hit the rich with higher bills than they do the poor. One of the few taxes you can say that's true. Sales tax is like that too.
