Default Property tax, what a bummer!

I just got hit up with my first property tax for my S, $715. I need to move somewhere where there is no property tax? Just thought i'd share this with you guys. If anyone is willing to share, what did you pay for your property tax? (if you even have property tax) Maybe I'll here some that are higher than mine and i'll feel better

Here in New Jersey there is no personal property tax, but we pay a huge amount for real estate tax. I think we can all look forward to higher levels of local tax to make up for the decreasing amount of dollars going to the states from Washington.

Overall, I don't think we are really going to benefit from the tax cut. The federal decrease is offset by the local increase.

GregC21, I'm in s. carolina too.... columbia specifically. But seeing as how I just got my S last week I haven't had to pay the tax just yet. Does the prop. tax vary by county or is it the same across the state? I'm curious if the amount you paid is what I can expect to pay myself.

*edit* oops, I just noticed that you have a MY01 which means mine will probably be more on a new '03

Tell me all about it!, it's 3.5% of the value of your car each year(NADA book), and up to 5 years here in VA, if I remember it correctly.

Just got mine the other day. $241.00 in Wake co., NC. Not as bad as SC, but still sucks.

I just got my S beginning of the year. Up here in CT we are labeled as the tax you to death state.

For my 90 Mazda pickup I pay $100 2x a year
For prior rocket 94 Prelude I paid $300 2x a year

Now for my S.... Not sure but I bet I will have you beat if you only pay $715, My bill will most likely be close to $1000 or more!

Interesting Article:
Connecticut residents work longer to pay their local property tax than any other state tax; and longer than local property taxpayers in all other states but four.
