MY04 and 05 are identical. MY04+ gives you the F22C 2.2L engine with the 8,000 RPM redline (vs 9,000), 17" wheels and wider tires (vs 16"), minor aesthetic differences to the front, rear and interior and a few suspension tweaks to take out some oversteer (made it a bit softer). Honda says the F22C motor has the same power, 240hp, but has some additional low end torque that is noticable when lugging it around town. Some dyno runs have suggested that this motor makes more hp and torque everywhere in the power band, while others don't. Who knows? We do know for certain that it does make more low end torque.
Don't forget the added room on the inside of the 04. The 04's have 3" more legroom, and have more elbow room than the previous models. Also, the interior has been changed along with the front and rear bumpers and lights. The instrument cluster is also different along with different options on the gearshift knob (no biggie). The center console is bigger now with a sliding compartment that makes room for two cans of whatever. The yellow is now more yellow with a bit more flake and the tires have been changed to RE050's (same as Enzo) instead of the S02's. Also, they added a real horn to the 04's so it sounds like a car instead of a scooter and changed the plug wire cover to gold.
Also, they hid a secret button under the dash that gives us 04+ owners an extra 100hp to the wheels. It's a trick finding it though.

the 04 has more legroom? how? they most certainly DID NOT stretch the cabin.
yes, the 04s have been shown to produce more peak power. the 00-03s however, have a longer powerband in real-world acceleration (6500-9000rpm). The result is both cars have identical acceleration (actually, honda says the 04 is .1 faster 0-60 and .1 slower in the quarter mile).
