Public Admiration and S2000 Color Choice
-I put down my deposit for an S2000 '01, July delivery. I'm looking forward to driving the car into my young life.
-I can't decide on which color. Initially I wanted yellow because it's a 2001 and it's pretty damn flashy. But then black on black is a classic look, yet I'm worried about how it'll suck up the heat and all. I've heard black is hard to maintain. I'd just like your thoughts on choice of colors in between the two. I don't like the silver because it looks too gray and I see a lot of them on the road (meaning in the rare chance I do get to see an S2000 here in Seattle).
-Please share some stories of moments when you were really glad you bought the S2000 based on the reactions gotten from strangers.

I used to own Miatas. The first one was white and the last black. Yes the black was a little hotter. In Texas however the difference between the colors was irrelevant, once it gets over 90 degrees both will fry you. Regardless of color your top is black, that is where the heat comes from.
Personally, I love the Silverstone. It looks like hematite to me because it is a little dark/gray. If I had it to do over again I might go red. With any luck you will be able to choose your color, not enough cars to get too picky.
BTW, why are you concerned about heat? The sun rarely shines in Seattle anyway.

I'm getting a Silverstone, but also considered yellow for a little bit. It depends on the type of look you want to exude. I decided the yellow was a little too flashy, and also when yellow fades, it looks horrible, IMO.

I'm not into the red. I have a red car right now and am ready to move on.
I still think the silverstone is more stone than anything silver.
Like the Ferrari Modena looks great in yellow, but that car can pull it off cuz it's already flashy. But the yellow on the S2000... OK, yellow is out.
So it's either black or black. Unless there's something bad about black that I'm missing, I will order black/black. I do have my choice of colors on the car.
I'm graduating from college this winter and the S2000 will be my first auto purchase so I'm really thinking this one over. The July '01 delivery is perfect timing cuz I'm going through interviews right now and that's about the time I would start if I get into one of the big 5 consulting firms. If I don't get in, bye bye S2000, helllloooo Prelude. haha
In Seattle, it's drizzly off and on between Oct-February. Other than that, we do get sun. But don't tell anyone.

Just curious, but does anybody here not clean their car obsessively. I clean mine at least every other week. I do that with all my cars whether they have been driven or not. Go with the Black, you can't regret it.
