purchasing a new S2000 with test drive miles
I am considering a new S2000 that has over 100 miles of driving on it from test drives. How worried should I be about VTEC before the break in period was up? Can I confirm that this did not happen?
Thanks!

Thanks!

In my experience, the test drivers are encouraged to drive the car as hard as they'd like, of course sensibly. Unless you're getting a killer deal on this test driven car, I'd much prefer and would go for a new car.
i was assuming you'de say something like 20 miles, 100 miles for just test drives is absolutely ridiculous IMO. I wouldnt accept a car at a new price unless it had less than like 15 miles on it. honestly i think that mileage classifies as a used car. 100 miles is a lot of leeway for a lot of possible abuse IMO. anyone else?
I appreciate the feedback. Taking the car, ofcourse, I'd demand a very good price (especially given recent price drops on new examples). I'm just wondering how likely this is to cause damage and what, if anything, I could do. I think it's better to take it as a new car to get the warranty coverage.
Its pretty much a 50 50 split on whether vtec before 600 miles is a good idea or not.
Also this isn't a ferrari, test drives miles arn't the end of the world. I think some overexagerate the situtation. May it have been abused, possibly, but thats why you have a warranty. Also when we went to testdrive the car, I never went nuts driving it; kept it under 5k rpms. I doubt EVERYONE driving that car actually drove it hard (if any).
Get some money off, enjoy it.

Not everyone that drives the car hits vtec and drives like they stole it. A lot of the people looking at these cars are older anyway and don't drive like that.

I agree as well.

So if they give you a deal or it's the color that you want, go for it.
I didnt buy new, but even when I was encouraged by the sales person to rev it up, I had waited until I had driven over 5 miles and the car was fully warmed up. If it had been new, I would not have done it, even if the dealer said it was OK. Fun is one thing. . .but even I know cars have to be broken in.
Its a Honda either way. 100 miles isnt going to kill it, and you still have the rest of the warranty if something does happen, which I doubt would stem from the 100 miles on the clock when you bought it.
