Default The pursuit of S2Kness

It was the year 2000. Philly Auto Show. Wandering around cars, taking loads of pictures and collecting bags of brochures. A few cars leave a lasting impression on you. They talk to you. S2K tops that list. Sleek and sharp design features, a driver's car with no fancy bells and whistles and fits like a glove. A little out of your budget however, so, you file it away as "would very much like to have one day".

Later that year, the movie Gone in 60 Seconds comes out. When Cage says, "You become the car and the car becomes you", out of nowhere the S2K pops up in your mind. You sigh big followed by a wide smile. This was going to be a longtime fantasy!

Fast forward to 2006. More than 100K miles on "The Old Faithful". Almost every other sporty car has been redesigned with either a round or a boxy look. S2K still retains it sharp and sleek lines. Still very much a Driver's car! Your financial situation is much better now; you can afford an S2K now. But...six years has apparently made you wiser and now you see the lean mean sleek machine (Thx, George Foreman!) as an impractical car, NNNNOOOOOOO!

Audi A3, MazdaSpeed3, Subaru WRX and VW GTI...all took turns at the top on the prospective list. You wait to make a decision until the MZSP3 and the GTI4door came out. Fall 2006. All prospective cars are out to check out and test drive. Moment of truth!! All very capable cars...but none of them...you know...talk to you! You question your purpose. An epiphany strikes you!! That's it...it's the S2K!! Sometimes in life you take on stuff that are not the most practical yet you do it because it makes you happy from the inside!

Well...after about a month of internet shopping, I

I can relate to this....I very reluctantly sold my fisrt S2000 when I moved to the US a few years ago. After getting settled I was on the hunt for suitable replacement for my weekend fun and really didnt think about an S again because it was a feeling of "been there, done that." I test drove everything that was around at the time, Boxster, TT, Z4 etc etc and I just didnt get that *feeling* I remembered. I kinda gave up looking in the hope that I would get some inspiration.

It wasnt until a couple of months later that I ended up car shopping with someone else and I spotted a 2004 S2000 in the showroom. I didnt even realize there had been a redesign I had been out of the loop for so long.

I took a quick test drive to see the differences and that *feeling* was back! Quick hunt around for the right color combo and a week later a brand new S2000 was in the garage!

Enjoy

Welcome to S ownership. Most enjoyable car I've ever owned and I've owned a few other true sport cars and test drove plenty of others. I don't get that connected, one with the road feeling in any other car I've ever driven like I do in this S2000. This is one car I can see myself keeping for 10 years.
