hey guys i was wondering if i put my license plate on the front grill, will it block air flow into the car? or is it completely okea to do so.
just wondering because im thinking of putting my license plate on it because i keep getting hustled by cops for not having a license plate in the front.. and i dont feel like taking off my bumper plugs out..
Make some measurements of the area and do the math. I wouldn't worry about blocking 10% of the area, but much more than that and I think it's a bad idea. The S has a pretty prominent inlet to the radiator, and it's obviously not as forgiving to blockage as a car with multiple grilles and a lot of leakage up front.
I dont know where you live or the rules there but in oregon its ok to put it on the dash if you dont want it on the bumper as long as it is visible from the front your okay in oregon
For every day driving, I would think you would be o.k., unless you are in a really hot climate. Since you are in the Central Valley, I would keep an eye on the temp gauge for the next few months.
I had it mounted this way on my '03 when I lived in NY and didn't have any cooling problems. On '04's and up, the grille opening is a bit larger so there's even less chance of air flow restrictions. But now I have an AP2 front and live in NC so I don't need a front plate anymore. This way looks the cleanest IMO. A $100 ticket caused me to put my front plate back on and having it mounted this way, even with the top folded, never even got a second look from police even going through road blocks.
