I avoided the AEM because of the potential for hydrolock. That, and I didn't feel like fabricating or buying an "umbrella" for the intake.

How do you like the comptech and where did you get the cooling plate?

I like the Comptech intake, it has a nice tone to it...louder than stock but not roaring loud like the V2. The carbon fiber cooling plate is just one of the generic ones available on eBay.

Hey, does anyone know th prupose of the wider section of tubing on the comptec intake? I kind of looks like a canister was put in there, but I doubt it. Wouldn't this create turbulent air flow?

Its supposed to help the throttle response thats normally lost with aftermarket intakes; it seems to work as the response didn't seem to go down. I picked up more midrange than anything from the intake.

What do you mean by Hydolock, and why would you have to build a shield.

Hydolock is when the engine sucks water into the combustion chamber. It can be an engine killer and expensive to repair.

The AEM and Injen intakes both have their filter located low in the car and under a water drain drain hole. It has opportunity to suck water if you go through a water upto the chin of the car or during a rain storm as water runs through the drain hole.
