question about churping..
well...i've always heard friends talk about how cool it is to churp your car...and i was finally able to "churp" my S. my question though does it actually hurt the car? i know when you shift "fast" enough, you will "churp" the tires. and if you are really good you can even churp them in the higher gears.
Chirping your tires most definitely puts added strain on your driveline and clutch. Doing it once or twice is probably no biggie, but I would not make a habit of it. Especially with the reputation of the stock diff case.

To 'chirp' your tires, you are shortening the life of your car's drivetrain. I.E.' clutch, flywheel face, driveshaft, shaft joints, differential, transmission, rear shafts, rear C/V's(universals). Keep it up dude and you'll spend big bucks in repairs. Many S2000 owners seem to get offended when reminded that the "S" is not a dragster. Well, be offended.

Don't powershift as hard. In other words, lay off the gas while switching upshifting.
i'll have to watch out next time! Trending Topics
I am and WAS calm. It makes no difference to me if someone slams their S's drivetrain. I bought mine brand new and have NEVER launched or slammed my tranny/clutch. I don't have to concern myself with buying used and wondering how the previous owner used/abused his/her car.
To prevent 'churping', just drive calmly. The original poster was alluding to shifting quickly while the RPM's are still high and engaging the clutch abruptly. Think of it this way, get u to about 20MPH in 1st gear with the throttle about %50, then, shift as fast as you can without letting up on the throttle . What happens is that the engine RPM's climb between this shift and then when you abruptly let out on the clutch during the 1st to 2nd shift, the tires will "chirp".

As I've stated several times, too many people are quick to point out weak diff, weak clutch, etc, yet I can point out just as many people who race in the 1/4 mile and have never had a problem, myself included (over 1000 clutch dumps and counting...).
