Default Question about hp/weight ratio...

Say you have a heavy car, and a light car that both run the same 1/4...
Therefore, the heavier car has more horsepower of course in able to be the same speed as the smaller car. Both get 50 more hp. Which one is faster, or are they still the same?

In other words, my car weighs 2500 with 210 hp, my friends is 3000 with 260 hp. We are the exact same speed in a 1/4mile. We both get 50 hp added to our car. Mine would be faster correct?

These are all just made up senarios and numbers. Just making sure my way of thinking is correct. So I dont need any comments about how its a drivers race, or it has to do with so many other factors, or anything like that.

Yes. If power is added equally to different weight cars, all other things being equal, the lighter car will be faster than the heavier one.

I don't believe this to be correct. A lot more comes into play that power to weight ratios.
Torque to weight ratio would already be a better start but most importantly gearing.
If one of the cars had longer gears, it would likely benefit more from the extra power than the other.

Or AM I mistaken?
