i'm planning on selling the car within the next few months...problem is i don't outright own the car. how does it work when you privately sell a car if you don't have a clean title? is it more trouble than it's worth?

I believe you just have to get the title signed over at the bank when you sell it to the new person. As long as you pay them all the money you owe them, you can sell the car to who ever you like.

 

When I sold my car, I just took his cash and made a contract stating that when I obtain the title from the lien holder, I would immediately sign it over to him. It's not that bad to deal with. If the buyer is seriously interested they will understand
