Question about silver color

Default Question about silver color

Probably an easy way to know but I don't !
I bought my 02 S2K around 8-10 months ago - great car and still thrilling to drive - at any rate it's silver with red/black seats - what I was wondering was how can you tell the correct color name for the silver mine is ! There appears to be several silver variations ! Thanks in advance !

Oops - think I just figured it out by looking at the color charts / year combinations and production numbers - the 2002 appears to be Sebring silver - would that be correct ?

Check the color code on the door jamb. Could be Sebring or Silverstone. Sebring is quite a bit lighter than Silverstone.

Edit: I didn't realize they didn't make any Silverstone S2Ks for 2002. You and s2kapow are both correct.

Yes, the silver for model year 2002 is Sebring Silver

A 2002 Sebring should have either all red seats or all black seats. If the seats are red/black they're not from an 02.

The model year in in your VIN at position 10:

1. J (manufactured, Japan)
2. H (manufacturer, Honda)
3. M (passenger car, made in Japan)
4-6. AP1/AP2 (chassis)
7. 1 (coupe+manual transmission)
8. 4 (grade)
9. Check digit
10. Y, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 (model year, y=2000, 1=2001, etc)
11. T, S (manufacturing plant, T=Tochigi, S=Suzuka)
12-17. Production Number

I posted the exact question when I bought it wondering about the red / black and was told it was probably swapped out early in its life - I'm the 3rd owner but the guy I bought it from owned it 9 years and was red/ black when he bought it - at any rate I love it !
I'll post a shot of it later - hard to do on the phone but yes, it looks just like yours !

Red/Black seats didn't start until 2004. So, it is possible that Owner #1 could have made the swap.
