Default question about the windshield trim

how come on some s2k's, the windshield trim is the same color as the body color and some is black? i want to get a matching color hardtop but that black trim makes it look off.

Its just tape, you can peel it off and it will be the color of the car.

I didn't know that. Now, I'm considering peeling it off.

I dont know why........maybe it was easier to tape it than to run it through the paint shop again for black?

From what I understand berlina's dont have the tape.

If you have plans to remove the tape, there have been a few reports that the paint under the tape may not be perfect.

Most everyone has been happy with what they find under there, just be aware...

I think the tape is there to match the soft top.

Your post and lack of knowledge is a dissappointment.

The windshield is painted the same color as the car and then covered with the Black tape to match the soft top.

Because the Hard top is an option, so is removing the black tape.

The only hitch is that there are a few cases where the paint underneath the tape is not perfect, but in most cases can still be buffed out and polished to look new.
