My personal preference would lean toward a stock or lightly modified car. Minor bolt-ons don't bother me. Unless I was buying it from a close friend, I probably wouldn't consider something that was highly modifed. For me, a lot of the fun is researching mods, making my own decisions, and doing the work myself.

whoa whoa whoa for all you guys with bought not built in your minds, if your planing on to boosting the s correctly cost a lot. so if you buy a used boosted one you can save a lot of money if the owner had properly boosted it, and took all the necessary steps to do it right. GO FOR IT. The cost of boosting an s is around at lest 8 with a good turbo it and aem e-man. not alone the extra things you need.

so this person put a lot of money into the car and is selling it for a stock s2000 price, which is a great deal in my opinon. if i saw this i would grab it for that price. But make sure you dont buy a money pit. For comon sense things you need to do for low/mild boost is,
-upgraded springs/retainers
-new clutch (possibly a fly wheel but it isnt necessary)
-reinforced diff

Ask him who tuned it, how much boost, does he have receipts proving the mods you cant see, clutch retainers/springs diff etc. if everything checks out, go for it. a stock s2000 can handle 700 hp with only springs and retainers. no need to change the pistons or anything.

And for the ap1 vs ap2, the ap1's are my favorite but thats just my opinon. the ap2's are great for daily driving, but i daily my ap1 and its bearable when you take a couple of high speed turns from work to home at night (: the ap1's just steer better and are sharper. but ap2's lack steering feel, but are a bit faster around a track. but ap1's are so much more fun to drive in my opinon. it doesnt feel like im driving in a civic.

Boost normally means tune, normally means headaches.

Buy what you're willing to service.

People buy stock cars and mod them so they know what's been done. Nothing like chasing down a problem wire that is connected to nothing.

Really depends on what you want to do with it. I get there are a lot of folks out there that want a SC or Turbo S2k, I'm just not one of em (no flame intedned).

Like others have said, if you are looking to boost, it's expensive to do it right. That being said...if it were me...I'd want to start with as close to stock S2k as I could get. I've heard more horror stories regarding boost than hydrolock, and would not want to risk getting one that was not done correctly. I'll pay the $$ to make sure whatever I do to it, is done right.

If you get a stock S2k: 06+ App2 (can tune with FlashPro)- good daily driver and with intake and exhaust bolt-ons....makes a good, reliable daily runner.

Note: Drive both an App1 and App2 if you can. I like the bigger motor of the App2 + the ability to tune with FlashPro. If you don't care so much about those things...you may find you like the feel of that better.

These cars are not cheap to mod properly....either NA or boosted. If you have no prior experience with S2ks......I'd suggest you get one as close to stock as you can get it. Drive it for a while....decide what path for mods you want to take, and develop a plan based on time and budget.

Just my thoughts......good luck.

All depends on how well the owner took care of the car. You never can make overgeneralized assumptions on a modded car or even a stock car. One guy could have a stock S and never took care of it and another can have a highly modded S that's more reliable. jm2c.

Also, I edited your OP. Please don't post ads

i agree 100% with this a sell can say anything they like. In the end it comes down to the facts. If they have paper work that would be a big +
If the car was well maintained then i see no problem with boost. My self id pass but im just not a fan or boost NA all the way.
