i'm not big on wings, but i hear that it helps if you were running on the track with that? i had this wild-ass idea a while back on a removable (no drilling required) adjustable aluminum wing.

what do you think? (aside from barfing. i know how some of us think of wings).

Sounds interesting... but how do you propose to make it removable yet stable at high speed? After all, the whole point of a rear wing is to generate downforce...

Very racy idea though... I like it...

How would you test its effectiveness? Last I heard, wind tunnel testing was pretty $$$!

Would that be possible? I doubt it'll stay on the car. But if it does I'll get one!

I know what you're thinking, Mingster. You're going to build a wing that fits on one of those plug-in trailer hitches; am I right?

I would think that if you somehow used the trunk to clamp down on it, mingster could design something that was removable. But testing would be interesting. He could do 10 passes with and without at the track to see it's effectiveness. But to finally set on a design would take awhile.

Why wings?
Why not clean up the underside of the car, add a splitter on the front and a diffuser on the rear. Then you can have down force without a big wing.
Plus you would have less drag than what a wing generates.
To get a wing big enough and with enough angle on it to create downforce at the speeds our car will do you will have a lot of drag. And if you don't add something to the front of the car you could cause lift at the front. Just ask some Porsche owners that have put big wings on the rear and nothing on the front.

i've been thinking about a design that mounts flush into the four holes that are currently filled by the center brakelight. kinda swooping up from the body into a wing...somehow...
